“Life is too short to be struggling to survive”, I told myself one day. Too short to be struggling to make ends meet, pay the bills and keep food on the table. There had to be a better way. Discriminatory action by Property Management, and the owner of the apartment complex where I lived, that resulted in retaliatory action on their part, that threatened to leave my Mother and I homeless because we complained for the umpteenth time about being harassed by another tenant for two whole years with nothing being done, became the final straw. The catalyst for much needed change.

With no money to move or to afford an attorney to help us in our time of need I made up my mind that I wasn’t going to live my life like that any longer. Never again would I be at the mercy of another human being like that. It was time to take control of my life instead of being controlled by life. Poverty and lack had to come to an end.
