Fear is Detrimental
One thing that is the most detrimental to your success is fear. More so than lack of money or nay-sayers. Fear will keep you bound in a life of mediocrity because you’ll be too afraid to step out and do what is necessary to change your life. Greatness lives in every single last one of us. EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE OF US. But you’ll never discover it as long as you allow fear to dictate how you live you life.
Now fear has it’s uses when it’s constructive. If we felt no fear we wouldn’t know when to run from or avoid danger. Fear usually alerts us to the fact that something is wrong and to avoid it. But there two more kinds of fear that is dangerous. It’s the fear of success and the fear of change. You know when you experience it. There are things that you need to get done. Things that you know are beneficial to your having a better life. But suddenly you start stalling and putting tasks off until later. You procrastinate. Become indecisive. Suddenly the unimportant things become important to you because you want to unconsciously sabotage yourself.
We Fear Change
We fear success and change for many reasons. One very important one is that you may not believe you deserve to be successful. We all have experienced many things in our lives that lead us to believe the destructive things that we do. You may even be fearful of the change that success will bring even if it’s positive. Yes, we can be comfortable in our negative circumstances because at least you know what you are going to get day after day and you don’t have to stretch emotionally. But even though finding success is good it’s also scary because we don’t know what to expect and the work that it takes to find success is sometimes uncomfortable because we have to come out of our comfort zone to get to the other side. It’s a destructive rollercoaster ride that only you can stop.
Take Control
It’s time to take control of your fears and start living. Grab a hold of your fear and do the thing that frightens you anyway. You may feel uncomfortable at first but soon you’ll start to wonder what you were so worked up for to begin with anyway. You’ll come to recognize your fear for what it truly is : False Evidence Appearing Real.
If you want better you have to do better. If you want to be successful in business or in life you have to find a positive and constructive way to overcome what frightens you. Read books about fear. Talk to someone you trust about what’s holding you back. And if your fear is great enough don’t be ashamed to seek professional help. There is nothing wrong with that!
If you have a strong “why” allow that to propel you when fear threatens to take you over. Let how sick and tired and disgusted you are with your present circumstances that it push you to move forward and overcome what scares you the most.
Do It Anyway
Whether you believe it or not we are made in the image of the Almighty God Himself. You have greatness in you. Walk in that. Breath it in. Do the thing that frightens you and soon you will find that you have overcome that thing that scared you so much and look back in wonder on why it ever did in the first place.
You can do and be anything you put your mind to. The only thing keeping you from success is yourself. The only one keeping you from achieving your dreams is yourself. Love yourself enough to go for your dreams and kick your fears to the curb and live!
